Do you love the great outdoors?  Indiana County Parks & Trails offers 2,700 acres of parks, natural areas, 4 covered bridges and historic sites along with an extensive regional trail system. Hiking and biking enthusiasts will enjoy more than 69 miles of rails-to-trails throughout the county, including the award-winning Ghost Town Trail which was named "Pennsylvania's TRAIL OF THE YEAR 2020" by DCNR.    Find outdoor activities all year at the 2,981-acre Yellow Creek State Park, including single-track mountain biking trails, picnic and beach areas, camping, boating, fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing, ice skating, fishing, hunting, swimming, orienteering, snowmobiling and wildlife watching!  Love hitting the waters?  Enjoy calm lake waters or take a ride down the Conemaugh or Kiskiminetas rivers.  Need to rent a boat, kayak or canoe? No problem - find rentals here.  Love golfing?  Indiana County is home to many beautiful golf courses.

Enjoy the arts, theatre and live entertainment?  Watch them come alive on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with their Lively Arts and at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex.  Check the Tourist Bureau's online event calendar for local group stage performances and art-related, as well as other types, of festivals and events! 

Want to experience a little Hollywood magic?  Famous actor, Jimmy Stewart, was born and raised in Indiana.  The Jimmy Stewart Museum highlights the successful Hollywood career of Jimmy Stewart in movies, TV, theater, radio and his life as a WWII military hero, civic leader and family man.  Also included at the Museum is a 50-seat vintage-style theatre and unique gift shop. There's never a fee to stop and shop the gift shop! 

Did you know...It's a Wonderful Life in the Christmas Tree Capital of the World? Indiana County became known as "The Christmas Tree Capital of the World" after the idea of specifically cultivating trees for the the purpose of being sold as Christmas trees began in Indiana County.  Indiana County is home to winter events which include the It's a Wonderful Life Festival and a variety of Christmas tree farms offering an abundance of options for the perfect LIVE Christmas tree.

​Interested in feeling like you've step back in time?  A trip to the Amish community of Smicksburg, where horse-drawn buggies share the road with automobiles, provides a unique cultural, shopping and dining experience, filled opportunities to purchase homemade and handmade items.  Seasonal festivals are held throughout the year - make plans to attend one!   

Enjoy wine tastings or brewery and distillery tours?  Indiana County is home to award-winning Levity Brewing Company which offers a variety of craft beers, a local artisan distillery (Disobedient Spirits) that crafts spirits and cocktails made with local ingredients and several wineries where you can enjoy the perfect pour.  Cheers!
